I believe that Romanian citizens will learn fairly quickly what their rights and duties are, once Romania will become an EU member state. [...] Laws are changing and it is very difficult for citizens to grasp everything because of this frequent changes. Citizens need a special kind of guidance and support in this moment of capital changes and Citizens Advice Bureaux can meet citizens’ needs in this situation. We, in the British Parliament cannot work efficiently without the support of the Citizens Advice Bureaux network (Citizens Advice UK). As a member of the British Parliament, for ten year now, hundreds, even thousands of people addressed me in different issues. When a person comes and asks for my advice, he/she had already probably spent a lot of money on lawyers. I, as a member of the Parliament, use my instinct, my political judgment, I assess the case and I say: I believe that this person is right. Then I ask myself: where can I get highly qualified, legal information? I then gladly recommend the network of Citizens Advice Bureaux.” (Baroness Emma Nicholson, Former Vice President of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs).
