Citizens in Focsani Interested in Local Services of Information

75% of the persons in an opinion poll declare the City Hall in Focsani should allocate supplementary funds for supporting the local services of information. Designed to identify the degree of satisfaction with the services of information, the opinion poll was made during March 1 and May 20, 2009 by the Citizens Advice Bureau in Focsani on a representative sample of 300 individuals. The poll was made under the project “CAB in Focsani – a qualitative service for community”.

The opinion poll had an analytic pursuit, emphasizing the citizens’ attitudes towards information and the evaluation of the services of information offered by the public institutions, the citizens’ needs of information, and the manners in which citizens wish to be informed.

The communication between public institutions and citizens is positive, 49% of the questioned individuals stating the relationship between public institutions and citizens is “good” at the communication level. The percentage is a good one and the majority of the individuals questioned believed the furthermore improvement of this process would rest on solving the problems related to heavy bureaucracy, civil servants’ incompetence, legislative unpredictability, and institutions’ lack of transparency. At the level of satisfaction with the services of information, only 23% of the questioned individuals declare themselves satisfied with those services, and an overwhelming majority (68%) chooses the “I do not know/I do not want to answer” option. Although they declare that they know about the existence of a service/center of information (32%) and that they used those services (18%), the citizens in Focsani believe there is a need for a new local service of information to provide qualitative services. 65% of the subjects of the poll believe this services it is very much needed and 30% say it is needed. The opinion poll made by the CAB in Focsani highlights the importance of allocating funds to support local services of information by the City Hall.
