CAB Services

The CABs offer two types of services:

  • Information concerning legal regulations and law provisions with regards to the problems she/he faces
  • Advice: the people coming in contact with a CAB are helped to take informed decisions with respect to the problems they face. CABs offer an overview of the possibilities the person has at her/his disposal, along with the attached steps to be taken, following that the actual decision to be taken exclusively by the person herself/himself.

  • CAB activities found on three grounding principles, aiming at insuring the best accessibility for each member of a certain community:

  • Independence from political, religious, business, and other interests
  • Impartiality. CABs offer services for all citizens, irrespective of their social status, religious affiliation, gender, ethnicity etc.
  • Gratuity. The absence of fees makes it possible for this information and advice service to be accessible to a wider social category
  • Confidentiality. CAB advisers have the obligation to keep the citizen's problem confidential and not to reveal the citizen's personal details to anyone outside the organization. Exceptions to this principle constitute the possible infringements of the law, according to the Penal Code.

  • Over 40000 citizens benefit annually from the direct services of the CABs. The impact of those services in the community is significant, as the CAB is an important pillar in promoting civic participation, transparency and accountability of public authorities.
